I wanted to share a few of my favorite resources with you. These tools and resources have helped me becoming more knowledgeable - and have helped me grow as a person.

Books

  • The Period Repair Manual - I love this book written by Naturopath, Dr. Lara Briden because she created a comprehensive guide to bettering your periods naturally, addressing underlying issues regarding PMS symptoms, endometriosis, PCOS, etc. This a great book to have as a reference in your personal library!

  • IN OUR CONTROL: THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO CONTRACEPTIVE CHOICES FOR WOMEN - Do diaphragms work? Should you stay on the Pill? What does fertility awareness really mean? Find these answers and more in In Our Control, the definitive guide to modern contraceptive and sexual health.

  • Woman Code - This book is a five step program that gives you the tools to work in harmony with your body’s natural rhythms as well as minimize the impact of toxins in products, environment and diet.

  • Reproductive Justice: An Introduction - If you have no idea what RJ is and how it began then I highly recommend you start with this book. This provides an understanding of intersectionality of race, class and gender politics.

  • The Infertility Cure - Recently added to my personal must read list. Summary: A groundbreaking alternative approach to treating infertility using traditional Chinese medicine-on its own or in conjunction with the latest Western-based reproductive technology.

  • Medical Bondage: Race, Gender, and the Origins of Modern American Gynecology - Don’t let the cover scare you. This book dissects the history of modern american gynecology revealing ideas about race, health and status retelling the story of black enslaved women and of Irish immigrant women from their perspective.

  • Hot Pants - A French zine turned do it yourself gynecology and herbal remedies book. this promises to provide readers with an understanding of anatomy to help with yeast infections, hormonal imbalances, and self-healing herbs.

  • Cycle Savvy - This book is for girls 14 and older that helps them understand what is really happening with their body on a day-to-day basis. I wish someone would’ve handed me this book at that age!

  • Taking Charge of Your Fertility - MUST HAVE...also known as THE BIBLE of the Fertility Awareness Method. This encyclopedia looking book may seem intimidating but I guarantee you will gain a new found appreciation for what your body does physiologically, hence, the term body literacy.

  • Sweetening the Pill - Want to know how the pill impacts your body? Then you need to read this book. “When the Pill was released, it was thought that women would not submit to taking a medication each day when they were not sick. Now the Pill is making women sick.”

  • Love Your Lady Landscape - Want to learn to trust your gut, care for your ‘down there’ and reclaim your fierce and feminine power? Then this book does just that.

  • Healing Your Body Naturally After Childbirth - Are you a new mom or have a friend that you know who just gave birth? This has been my go to gift for new moms! This book provides answers and solutions to common postpartum conditions, etc.
