Welcome! I’m Cindy Luquin.
I’m so glad you’ve found your way to my website.
As a Latina, wife, scholar, holistic menstrual coach/ educator, reproductive justice activist and fertility awareness educator.
I’ve spent the last 5 years dedicating myself to learning about menstrual cycles and it all started with my own story.
After being on the pill for 6 years followed by ovarian removal surgery I realized I would need take control of my own health.
All my life I heard:
“No vayas a salir con tu domingo siete.”
“Don’t become a teen mom.”
“We don’t talk about sex.”
“Don’t use a tampon because you’ll won’t be a virgin anymore.”
Those are just a few examples that are often repeated in Latino family households.
I discovered the common thread in all of these and it’s all fear based. It not only comes from our families but society continually repeats these messages to us with research.
L.A. born and raised
Growing up in L.A. I had the privilege of learning about different cultures, languages and people. I moved around many times throughout So Cal and attended many different schools. As you can imagine it can feel like the end of the world as a child but I’ve realized it has taught me to ease into life changes much smoother as an adult. By the time I was 23 years old, I went to college and lived away from my family for the first time. This transition taught me so much about how resilient I truly am. It was not easy by any means. Working sometimes 3 part-time jobs just to make ends meet and pay my rent while getting a B.A. in Spanish Language and Literature and Healthcare Interpretation Training. Which led me to become who I am today.
